Why I Love Sprouts: I Can Feed My Family Healthy Food on a Budget!

I just got back from a great shopping trip at Sprouts.  I had to share in hopes of giving you some encouragement.  It seems that people are always saying, “I can’t afford to feed my family a healthy diet on a budget.”  I beg to differ!  Even if you don’t have a Sprouts, it can be done {more on that in a bit}.  There are so many good deals on produce, dairy, and meat products at Sprouts!  I printed my handy dandy list {found in any of Domestic Frugalista’s store matchups} and headed off to Sprouts.  I actually only had 1 coupon in hand and still saved a bundle!

I got everything in the pictures above for $100!!  That’s enough food for my family for this week.  Pounds and pounds of produce, 8-10 pounds of pork and poultry, milk, eggs, etc, etc… for $100!  Now, there are a few things I already have on hand, but some of these items will last into next week too.  There are even a few splurges like strawberries, pineapple, lunch meat, cheese, and bacon!  These are things that I normally don’t buy, but they were priced low and I was saving so much already!

One of my best saving tips is to plan your menu around what you have in your pantry and the produce and meat that’s on sale.  If I go to the store with only one type of produce in mind, and find that it’s sky high in price, I would be a fool to buy it!  Why buy 1 pound of  something when you can get 2 pounds of something else for the same price?  When meat is on sale at a rock bottom price, I stock up and freeze it.  If my stock pile is depleted {or if you’re just starting out} I buy whatever is priced the best that week.  No need to ask the hubby or kiddos what they want, they’re getting whats on sale 😉

Now, some of you may be saying to yourselves, “I don’t have a Sprouts, so I can’t get these great deals.”  You can find deals anywhere!  I used to only have a Safeway.  In my opinion, they are typically higher priced than most grocery stores.  But, I used the same strategy there as I do at Sprouts.  Buy what’s on sale and stock up when it’s rock bottom.  You can also look for Farmer’s Market’s in your area.  They typically have lower prices and the produce is a lot higher quality since it hasn’t been traveling in truck for 2 weeks!  If you still feel like you can’t find as good of deals, maybe it’s time to really look through your sales ads.  You may find that there’s a grocery store you don’t frequent with lower prices than where you go now.  It’s worth the time and effort to know that you are getting the most for your money!

How do you save money while sticking to a healthy lifestyle?

Health Insurance Costs Got You Down?? Don’t Pay More Than You Need!

500876_Affordable Health Insurance 300x250

If you have to pay for your own Health Insurance, you probably realize how frustrating and expensive it is!  My husband’s job offers benefits for him, but not for our family.  I am so happy I found eHealth Insurance!  Did you know that insurance prices are fixed by law?  This means you won’t find a better price anywhere else!  What I love about eHealth Insurance is you can choose the things you’re looking for and it will give you a comparison of all of the companies offering what you want and what they cost. It seriously is so simple to use and saved us hundreds of dollars a month!

I also used eHealth Insurance to find a temporary insurance while my husband was out of work last year!  I found temporary insurance in just a few minutes and had very affordable coverage the next day!

If you don’t have health insurance you are just asking for a disaster.  What if you need your appendix out?  Fall and break your leg?  No one is ever planning on accidents or getting sick, paying a little each month could save you from a lifetime of debt from medical bills.

Even if you already have a plan, you may want to check out eHealth Insurance to see if there’s something that fits your budget better.  We all want to save money no matter where we stand financially.
